Satomi Uchida
Lead Dancer
As our longest-standing member, Satomi has been an integral part of the LSHO journey from very early days. Upon moving to London from Japan, she spent several years searching for somewhere to learn Hula and ‘Ori, and was finally able to begin when Krysten Resnick opened LSHO in 2011. She has since learned solely under the direction of LSHO and has participated in exhibitions, performances and competition in London, Europe, and Tahiti. In 2023 she won 3rd Place Soloist at Hula ‘Oni E Europe and was part of our 2nd Place Auana team.
The ability to communicate and explore concepts about the beauty of the natural world and our place within it, across cultures, generations and language barriers through the medium of dance is of great interest to her as a student of Hula and ‘Ori and, with her dedication to the protection and perpetuation of these dances, alongside her ability to instil a love for them within others, Satomi has become LSHO’s Lead Dancer. Through Hula and ‘Ori, Satomi has found a sense of happiness, confidence and a freedom to express herself through dance and enjoys sharing that positivity with others. Satomi is absolutely delighted to represent her ‘Ohana and the community that’s brightened up her life in London.
