Your First Step

If you’re unsure where to begin, we recommend:

  • Drop in to any of the Beginners+ classes listed below (you can pay at the studio by cash or card).

  • Book an Intro Pass and try out any 4 of the Beginners+ classes across two weeks.

  • Join the next Beginners’ Foundation Course for an 8-week commitment through music, movement, language, and stories.

All are welcoming entry points for complete beginners. People of all ages, genders, abilities, and backgrounds are welcome to our studio.

  • This is best if there is one specific class you’d like to try. No need to book in advance, just come along to the studio and pay by card.
Classes are 1hr / £14, unless otherwise noted.

  • The easiest way to try your first 4 classes

If you're curious and want to experience the dances before committing, the Intro Pass lets you try four different classes and find the rhythm that suits you.

You can explore any 4 classes across 2 weeks:
    Hula Basics (Saturday 11am)
    ‘Ori Basics (Saturday 12pm)
    Hula Training (Tuesday 6.30pm)
    ‘Ori Training (Tuesday 6.30pm)
    Siva Sāmoa (Wednesday 6.30pm)

*Note this is to try each class once and does not apply to Music Classes, Workshops, or the Beginner Foundation Course.

  • This is a great place to truly begin.

    • Absolutely no dance experience required

  • Hula
Hawaiian Hula is incredibly dynamic, moving from fluid and graceful to powerful and emotive. Think grounding rhythms, soulful melodies, and uplifting movements. It can be a deeply meditative practice, allowing each dancer to challenge themselves at a pace that feels right for them.

    ‘Ori Tahiti
Tahitian ‘Ori is deeply invigorating, moving from sharp and energetic to sensuous and expressive. Think exhilarating drum beats, joyful strums, and vibrant movement. It can be a sweaty and spirited practice, pushing dancers in stamina, grace, coordination, and release.

    Siva Sāmoa
Sāmoan Siva animated and lively, embodying grace and refinement, joy and expression. Think upbeat tunes and singing, group-based exercises, and playful movements. It can be an expressive and enlivening practice, enhancing elegance and encouraging communal connectedness.

    Supporting various levels
Our Beginners+ classes are great for people who have never danced a single step in their lives, while also supporting those who want to strengthen their foundations. There is no judgment or expectation, and only kindness, curiosity, and respect are necessary!

    What to Bring
Wear comfortable clothing you can move in and bring water.
We have spare Pareo/Pa’u (practice skirts) available to borrow during class.
Filtered water and tap water are freely available at the studio.

    About our Studio:
We are a community-run studio in a warm and grounding space created with aloha. Our teachers and ‘ohana foster a fun and supportive environment centering joy and connection over perfection.

A message for our more nervous dancers:
Whether you are concerned about ability, mobility, age, or just the idea of dancing around other people, we hear you! Any given class will have first-time dancers, many of whom claim to have two left feet. You are not alone! We know that movement can feel deeply vulnerable, and we understand that attending a dance class can feel intimidating. That’s why we have built our school on values that welcome the act and process of learning, and centre joy and connection over perfection. Of course, it will likely feel a bit awkward when you first start moving, just like picking up any new language! So just come along, two left feet and all, and we will look after you.
